Lift and Shift waste recycling is licensed by the Environment Agency to treat 125,000 tonnes of construction and commercial wastes at its waste reprocessing plants in Portsmouth and Southampton. All waste is pretreated using modern plant and technology and wherever possible recycled for reuse. We work in partnership with various organizations to generate greater markets for recovered waste material, and we are involved in new emerging technologies for waste treatment and recovery. Wood Recycling All wood we collect is recycled and chipped to be remanufactured into chipboard or fibre board as well as being used as an alternative to fossil fuel and generating power. Rubble & Concrete Rubble, concrete, stone and ceramic material is sorted screened and finally crushed for reuse. Soils Soils are separated from the main waste stream by a large machine called a ‘Tromel’; these soils are then used to produce our Supersoil’ and are also used for construction projects throughout the South of England Metal Using modern overband magnets L&S is able to extract metals from waste this is then sorted into various grades and finally recycled. Cardboard Cardboard is separated and sent to local merchants for baling and onward transportation to board mills in the South of England. Plastics Various types of plastic are separated form the main waste stream and again are baled for onward transport and reprocessing. Recycling in general UK and European regulations regarding the disposal of waste are becoming increasingly stringent, when choosing your contractor please ensure that your waste is pre treated prior to any final disposal.
Finally please remember we all produce waste and will continue to do so,
please aim to minimize your own waste production and pass on any residue
to a responsible licensed contractor
